Power-cleaning an Epson Ecotank, or Purge File

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlvN3DuPBMI

Power Cleaning fills the maintenance box with the ink it uses for the Power Clean but doesn't print. It saturates the pads in the maintenance box (some boxes can't be swapped out, it seems). She says you don't even need to do Head Cleaning. Just use Purge Files.

Alternative cleaning method: just try to get the nozzles printing by doing pure colors. 'Purge File.' The Hex Codes for CMYK.

Vinyl for T-shirts, heat press

Heat press the shirt without the vinyl first (called 'pre-press'), to remove moisture. 10-20 seconds. (With or without Teflon.)

Vinyl: Silouette Cameo 4 for vinyl cutting (plotter-cutter)

(If it's new uncover the plastic from the cutting thing (and maybe do other setup stuff).

Place vinyl on plastic cutting grid sheet. Put it against the entry and click the arrow so it feeds in a bit.

(You can open the tray below if you want). (It can cut with the top cover open or closed). It should now cut.

Ootb it cut a little too deep, making marks in the plastic grid cutting sheet (not all the way through it).

Vinyl: InkScape for Screenprinting and Vinyl (Silouette Cameo 4)

SETTINGS FOR ROUGH SVGs in Inkscape

Path > Trace Bitmap, then change just the setting for Smooth Corners. The other things I left default.

  • Single Scan
  • Brightness Cutoff,
  • 0.450 Brightness Threshold
  • 2 Speckles
  • 0.1 or 0 Smooth Corners
  • 0.20 Optimize

SILOUETTE CAMEO plotter-cutter on Linux (Debian)

(You need to install some drivers, and you need to modify (cut and paste) some files into their folders)

  1. In Terminal (https://github.com/fablabnbg/inkscape-silhouette)
  • sudo apt install inkscape
  • sudo apt install python3-usb
  1. https://github.com/fablabnbg/inkscape-silhouette/releases Scroll down to Downloads and click on the *.deb file. (You only need the one .deb file.)

Image

Install that driver by clicking it in the folder and Install with Gdebi package manager (install gdebi),

Now, in Terminal do sudo inkscape to open it as root. With an SVG open in Inkscape, go to Extensions > Export > Send to Silouette, and try to do that, but you might get an error ...

Image

So go to ______________(add page link), and download the .zip file, and from inside that zipped folder, take three things and put them in in the yourComputerName/config/inkscape/extensions folder. (You don't need the whole zipped folder, and you don't need to install anything. Just paste those files.)

Image

Close inkscape and sudo inkscape again. At this point, it worked for me.
